G'day everyone I've probably posted something like this already some time back maybe mid 2006 but not entirely sure.... i was watching some youtube videos of weather alert radios used in the US to alert people to severe weather events as well as give general weather reports
Then a thought occurred would weather alert radios be useful here in Australia despite the BOM already having a top notch weather warnings system where warnings are broadcasted on TV,radio and internet even though some times severe weather events here either dont eventuate when forecasted to or just pop up out of no where without any warning
Would it be possible for such a weather alert radio network to be established here in Australia and customised for the severe weather events such as severe storms, thunderstorms and so on as well as a different VHF frequency for each state
What is everyone elses thoughts about this ?

Something is under development here though I don't know enough about this area to comment:

It does look like something is under development Michael but im wondering if they will actually design and make weather radios both desktop and portable which will be suited for each state and come in different designs/models as well as be affordable for the general public
Hopefully it will be something along the lines of what the USA use but made by Uniden,GME or Kenwood for the Australian climate and lifestyle
