Title: 2007 Precipitation and weather statistical data

Given I have finally been able to decipher some methodology to piece together totally rainfall, I now have it available. This thread I thought could be use for those statistically fanatical gurus in placing their own data for 2007 online.

My rainfall until 9am yesterday for Schofields, NSW was:

1046.7mm

This is an above average rainfall for this area given the typical annual precipitation across parts of western Sydney averages about 700 to 800mm.

If I get time I will add a month by month analysis.

Happy New Year

I know that this is not strictly severe weather, but I thought someone might be interested. I have posted rainfall data for my house for 2007. We are situated on the Western face of the Northern hill in Armidale. There is a little bit of obstruction to my gauge from the North and South (about 45 degrees).

Quite often we get big differences between our figures and the ones from weather station aprox 5km away at Armidale airport.

The averages with which I have compared my figures were recorded in town at radio station 2AD (about 2km away), and finished in 1997.

I think we had a good year, rainfall wise. Overall we had above average rain, but very low rainfall during the winter months. Especially low figures were recorded in July and September.

I look to to hearing how satisfactory rainfall was elsewehere.

Jimmy, I am happy to add my records here as well as I have been keeping tabs on what is going on weatherwise for 10 years.

Just of Note, I had approximately 1,050 mm of rain at my place for 2007 which is 443 mm more than in 2006 when 607 mm fell. It was the wettest year this decade and the wettest since 1998.

In fact most of Sydney had rainfalls up to 20% above the long term average easing the cumulative deficits that began in 2001.

Jimmy,

I will also add some data from Vic to this list as well - esp near home - and from next week, I will also add some weekly figures, based on the rain guage I have here at home too. Just for those who need to know. Please, if there is anyone else in the Eastern half of Vic who wants to add to this, don't hesitate - I could do with these figures too.

You know Jim, if we do get this data well, then the BoM might take interest in it!
