USA Trip 2006 8th May Kansas
« on: 10 May 2006, 06:19:33 PM »
Our first US storm chase saw us in the Salina area of cntrl nthrn Kansas.
this area was also targeted eby several of the US chasers as well.  The
storm line developed late afternoon, stretching for several hundred km's
across the NW part of the state and it moved in a general SE'erly direction.

Although the storm was severe warned and we were under a tornado watch,
it didnt appear to produce any tornadoes. The constant lightning lit up  a
good base lowering at times, but nothing more than heavy rain, abundant lightning
and strong gust front winds eventuated.

Wednesday will probably see us head down towards SW OK NW Texas region
where the CAPE is predicted ~3000 and  LFTX around -8.

cheers
Dave and Cindy Nelson

Hi Dave,

Excellent stuff! We intercepted the tornado warned supercell in southern Kansas which I have video of - though relatively featureless. This exploded after sunset where another storm had tennis ball sized hail warning on it. Today we targetted the region SE of Oklahoma City.
