I have been working up in Brisbane the last 3 days, and one of the people I was with there comes from that part of Victoria and had lost two friends that she knows of. And then I read on the news this morning that someone lit another 2 last night. There are some things we maybe should have the death penalty for.
I am sure everyone is feeling for those people down there at the moment, and just hoping the death toll won't go as high as is being suggested.
I have been under ember attack once near Gosford - the local schoolkids had torched the hill at the end of the road about 10 houses away but for a change it was blowing our way. The firies put a backburn in at the bottom of the hill to stop it and all the neighbours were out in the street with embers falling around us. Luckily having about 20 firetrucks parked there as well made us feel a lot more comfortable than would otherwise have been the case.
