Yes, I have noticed the temperature phenomena occurring. Monday it reached 39C where I live followed by 17C on Tuesday (Which I found out was the coldest December day since 2002), then 26C on Wednesday, then 36C on Thursday and today, back to 19C. Actually for today (Friday 15 December), it was warmer prior to 6 am than during the afternoon period (Due to the southerly airstream taking hold). It has been a week of significant temperature fluctuations.
This has been a trend for several weeks now that started back in October and I am seriously noticing it on my weather notes that I take daily. As I keep reading in books, in temperate climates, the atmosphere is always trying to get into equilibrium.
I have checked, the temperatures so far this month are only average for Sydney which is beginning to go against the trend predicted by current weather models for December (All were predicting above average temperatures). The inland is getting that but not the coast.
