....well, you can overlay sat imagery with google maps so no need for google earth really. It  provides a pretty good tool for additional documentation of storm chases.  You wouldnt be seeing any dogs on images acquired around here lately with all the cbs around :-)

Well thank you for that, David.  I've just taken the tour with that very link.  I shall be using it when the postings come again.  Quite handy!  Are there any storms building in your area?

Hi guys,

Due to the photography session for a newspaper article, my timing was limited. It basically destroyed my chances of being under the cell or in front. Here are a few pics though I hope you don't mind the foreground haha
Beginning on top of Rooty Hill

about 5km behind the exploding updrafts of the storm

Umm compare the flaking line with the hidden major updraft on the right hand side! Now if only that was over land!

Unfortunately, most of the pics were taken from the vehicle - in motion:)

Now I know Jeff's picture has better clarity and foreground but how about the timing - I would not think there was much difference in time taken of his picture and this one - just a different perspective
