Hurricane Hanna: from 28 August 2008
« on: 03 September 2008, 04:38:14 AM »
A sticky thread of sorts so we can post comments on Hanna whilst she is forming.  Computer models show Hanna following the same track as Gustav but that's pretty unlikely due to the messy conditions left behind by Gustav.  Hanna still has to overcome some high level shear but she's showing resistance to being affected by it.  Have included some NOAA graphics for interest's sake which show several systems already!  how would you like to be a storm chaser in the Bahamas - you would be busy!

Seeing so many hurricanes form so quickly in such an expanse of ocean is mind boggling!

850 streamline map for curiosity.  Shows Hanna, Ike and another storm behind him.  They talk about an upper level ridge to the Northeast of Hanna -  that 'bobble' in the streamlines above her that is showing, is that the ridge?

EDIT: Whoops, I was looking at the complete wrong storm. Sorry.

Hanna is expected to really pick up in speed in the next few days.
