Mountain Clouds.
« on: 08 August 2009, 11:40:26 AM »
We have just spent the last week in Victoria's high country staying at Dinner Plain, Mount Hotham and Bright. Truly a beautiful part of our country.
I took a couple of photos of a cloud over the top of Mount Buffalo. Could it be Altocumulus Lenticularis? Or some other cloud type? Would love it if anyone could help me out with this.

Yep I think you are right on the money with the type of cloud in the photos.  They are very spectacular with the laminate appearance.  My daughter got some shots of similar clouds here in Darwin last season - although we don't have mountains per se but the saucer shaped single clouds similar to Lenticular clouds was very interesting.  Thanks for sharing these images - hope you enjoyed that view of the cloud types - it's great!
