Topic: Volunteer project to identify historic weather events

SEARCH (South Eastern Australian Recent Climate History) is a project aiming to better understand south-eastern Australian climate history over the past 200–500 years. They need online volunteers to go through historic online newspaper articles from a certain time period here: http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper and tag the ones with significant weather events. I thought you guys might be interested, hence this post.

I hope no one has already posted this up. I searched but couldn't find anything on this topic.

It's an interesting concept, but I would be surprised if you see any newspaper articles over about 207 years ago, given Australia's first newspaper was printed in 1803. Not sure where the data is coming from for the previous 300 years

The instruction on their website say they are interested in newspaper articles between 1803 and 1880, so I'm not sure how that fits into the timeframe. I expect they have other sources of data feeding into their research project as well!
