Tornado watch issued for central Gulf Coast area!
Scattered thunderstorms have initiated across southern Louisiana this afternoon, with coverage expected to expand to the east along a retreating warm front currently straddling the MS River Delta. The environment in southern LA and MS will be supportive of supercell storms capable of producing tornadoes, with the threat lasting into the late evening. Further to the west, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of southern Texas. An impulse arriving from Mexico and extreme
instability near the central and lower Rio Grande areas of the TX-MX border should aid in the erosion of a strong cap this afternoon, allowing for the development of severe storms over northeast Mexico and south Texas.
