Thunderstorm activity spread into the Northern Rivers yesterday - despite the dew point falling to less than 5 at Casino around 1.30pm.
An interesting base developed south of Casino just before 4pm and this corresponded with a brief barrage of CGs, none of which I managed to capture.
This storm was moving NE so I moved east a little. There was a high based shelf structure but very weak. The storm seemed to weaken further after this and anvil rain started.
I was almost going to head home but noticed Jason Paterson at the Parrots Nest lookout south of Lismore. So I met up with him and set up the camera. The rain was very annoying but there were a few distant CGs captured with the lightning triggers.
Jason's dad phoned and reported a heap of hail at Hill Top near Nimbin at about 5.15pm.
The anvil rain did not let up, it was freezing and the lightning very infrequent so we called it quits.
However another cell developed to the north and gave a bit of a show from my place at McLeans Ridges.
Jason came over and we got some shots of the earlier cell that had now crept up over the Byron Bay area.
