20th anniversary of 1987 Edmonton, Alberta F4 tornado
« on: 03 August 2007, 01:46:40 PM »
For interests sake folks it's the 20th anniversary of this event.  One which is significant in that sadly it cost the lives of 27 people.  On July 31 1987 this F4  touched down and wrecked havoc in this area and was on the ground for hours.  There's a fantastic website dedicated to those who lost their lives with many colour tornado photos - go to - http://www.ee.ualberta.ca/~rob/tornado87.htm and have includes some photos thanks to Reed's website www.tornadovideos.net

Pretty disturbing photos of this monster - ironic how it sort of hits home more once you know more about these types of phenomena and what on earth people could do to avoid the carnage and us now seeing the end results.

That is one mean wall cloud in the first picture! Pretty mean looking storm when it produces an F4 tornado!
