Bushfires in Top End
« on: 26 July 2007, 02:19:42 PM »
The wet season may bring storms but during the dry even the locals hate the weather because everyday without fail you'll get some dill lightning fires all over the place.  Darwin is surrounded by mangrove, natural bush and pandanas - great fuel for any fire and you can forget washing your cars on the weekend, it'll only be covered in ash an hour later!

I just captured these shots around 7:15pm tonight (25July'07) as this beast raged through the scrub near our area.  Certainly impressive when darkness fell.  Can't say I've ever considered shots of brushfires but after these efforts I'm glad I did!
