Although not incredibly cold, I was outside quick smart attempting some photographs. Taking photographs of frost is not always easy to expose and portray.

BBrrrr - I feel your pain!  It's a whopping 15C overnight here in Darwin at the moment and the fans are off, the windows are closed and the doona is on the bed!  I'm off to Adelaide on 23rd July for a week and their daytime temps are 15C and overnight it's 3C!!!  Man, I'm dreading it already.

Nice photos Jimmy, love the way the frost crunches underfoot as no doubt you found out in your PJ's!

Nice shots Jimmy! Though I'm pondering what the second one is actually of? What were the temps when you took these (if u recall?), obviously pretty low!

Off topic.. I was in Mudgee for that last cold snap and it didn't get above 8.6degrees (on Friday the 3rd of July at 2pm). We were down there panning for gold at Hargreaves, which is 37k's South of Mudgee and I have to say the weather wasn't favorable for having you're hands submerged in a freezing creek all day. It was a real frostbite threat to say the least lol!

Mike: I heard it was only a top 24degrees on the news for Darwin and immediately thought you'd be huddled round a heater with a jumper on lol! I know how you feel as it doesn't really get too cold here in the Ridge but to go away and feel temps below 10degrees in the middle of the day is just crazy! :D

That's a heavy looking frost there Jimmy,how cold was it?
Here in NZ this winter we haven't had the real heavy frosts yet, but the continual cloud cover has kept day time temps so low that its looking like its going to be one of the coldest winters here for at least 30 years.

Has it being colder this winter over in OZ than other winters

It certainly was a cold one this morning!! in Melbourne - we recorded our coldest start for the year, with some places (like my home area) plummetting to -2deg C overnight. The city itself was close to zero.

In saying that, the day has been close to perfect again - 15C or so, and clear blue skys! (thinking of it being like early spring!)

It wasn't that cold - only -1.1C. However, I placed it down as an event that occurred here since I took some images. Can't wait for a -4C which I am predicting for this season as a possible minimum - perhaps during July.

-4c and you're wishing for it?  You are a glutton for punishment, Mr Deguara!  I saw a fascinating experiment from George K on Angry Planet where he was in Canada and it was in high digit below zero temps and he threw a cup of hot water into the air and it instantly turned to 'powered snow' - I just can't fathom anything colder but it was an impressive display of how the atmosphere affects warm/cold fluids!
