Well it is winter, however even by China's standards there is a decent cold snap ongoing. Just spoke with a friend who is currently living in Guangzhou and maxima there have generally been below 8C and as low as 5C over the last few days (prior to that it was unseasonably warm!).

Across Gansu province, where my colleague's wife currently is (complaining
