Tornado watch issued for central Gulf Coast area!

Scattered thunderstorms have initiated across southern Louisiana this  afternoon, with coverage expected to expand to the east along a retreating warm  front currently straddling the MS River Delta. The environment in southern LA  and MS will be supportive of supercell storms capable of producing tornadoes,  with the threat lasting into the late evening. Further to the west, a severe  thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of southern Texas. An impulse  arriving from Mexico and extreme instability near the central and lower Rio  Grande areas of the TX-MX border should aid in the erosion of a strong cap this  afternoon, allowing for the development of severe storms over northeast Mexico  and south Texas. Randy Denzer will be chasing the storms in Texas this  afternoon, so be sure to check out the Live page to follow along!
