Storms to Order?

Saw a very interesting story on the ABC about a company which claims to have the technology to manipulate weather systems to bring rain nito inland Victoria at will! Could they send some storms our way as well? ;-)

District Council will host at its next meeting a forum to discuss a new technology on weather management.David Miles from Aquiess will be present to discuss how to control weather patterns. John Forest Federal MP will also introduce the principle of this new technology. We will also hear a farmer?s account of the new system it is important that we get discussion on this if we are to move forward on this new technology.

Charlton District Council meeting, St. Arnaud Sporting Club at 5pm Friday 3rd February. Dinner and forum on weather at 7.30pm with all welcome. The weather affects us all every day and has the biggest impact on our income.

Rain plan draws interest
More than 50 Victorian wheat growers have signed up to a trial by a company that claims it has technology to redirect rain from over the ocean to inland Australia.

The principal of the Aquiess company, David Miles, addressed a gathering of farmers in the Wimmera, in the state's west, on Friday night.

He says while some people were sceptical, most wanted to learn more.

Mr Miles says he is confident the technology can deliver gentle, soaking rains this season.

Mr Miles says he's confident the company can deliver gentle soaking Autumn rains to farmers who've signed up.

"What we are endeavouring to do is even in a time of drought such as last year where a lot of farmers where under extreme pressure, we endeavour to bring in oceanic rain that was drawn from outside the sovereign territory of Australia and to draw the pathway across the designated target area," he said.

"We'll be working very hard to make sure each property receives the rainfall and obviously [it is] quite a large task because the people present ranged from Nhill, Mildura, right across the western border and also far as down as Bendigo and almost down past Ballarat."

Beggars the question: how do they intend to stop the rain falling on the property of farmers who haven't signed up?

An interesting concept, however. If they can "steer" the rain from the Southern Ocean into Victoria, then, in theory, they should be able to get the rain further north, as well. It may need the assistance of a low pressure system and trough to get further inland.

Geoff

And Geoff

What if a farmer relocated out into the arid environment because they wanted a dry environment! Do the sue because more rain fell on their property because their next door neighbour signed up:)

I am wandering if this company is hiring a bunch of drunks who require to do a leak - that may work! Or perhaps a herd of elephants.

Pardon the cynicism, but what a joke!

The Wimmera - hehe, silver iodide does work but you need some moisture in the air to begin with. Or perhaps Rune's old neighbour, the guy with the canon, scored a commonwealth grant.

My sentinments exactly Dave, If they could steer the weather than wouldn't more major countries allready be doing it? It might have something to do with the scalar weapons mob who create cyclones to order in the northern hemisphere. I heard they were working for the chinese stearing cyclones over the U.S. last season, they had good results I heard. ;-)
