1km VIS satpics of Australia
« on: 09 March 2006, 03:37:56 AM »
Hi all,

It's been a long wait, but there finally appears to be a reliable source of 1km mapped MTSAT images of Australia.

The images are typically 2mb but well worth the download. They are also available as soon as the images are captured - 10 mins after the hour

https://www.yoko.npmoc.navy.mil/yoko/cgi-bin/main.pl?aust

Other satpics reources are linked from here and suggestions are welcome !

Hi Michael,

That is awesome! They are extremely clear images and free! About time. Now we have to await next summer to observe overshoots.

Regards,

hi guys
was enjoying that 1km res pic from     https://www.yoko.npmoc.navy.mil/yoko/cgi-bin/main.pl?aust
over the last several months but unfortunately as of late June that site is no longer accessable

I have tried several times including cutting the addy back to just the basic  https://www.yoko.npmoc.navy.mil/
            without success.

Hi Dave - try the satpics links page - I keep this up-to-date:

http://australiasevereweather.com/links/ozsatpic.htm

The old secure server is gone, but you will see the link has changed to:  http://163.251.101.53/cgi-bin/main.pl?aust

Ben Quinn has put together a great resource using those 1km VIS from here:
