Even though in VIC we didn't get the storms like those in our northern neighbours districts, we did get some good falls - here the week has produced 16mm of rain. which is much needed.
Now...
VIC is now preparing for a major rain event, and a blast from the wintery winds and storms this weekend. From BoM, the cold front (note that cold is the word) that is due to arrive in Melb around midday tomorrow is expected to produce snowfalls on the Alps, hail to 3cm in the south, and very cold blustery winds gusting to 60kph. This is significantly like a normal winter change event.
For the NE and E regions of VIC., the BoM is forecasting between 50 and 100mm of rain plus for Saturday and Sunday. The intense low that is also forming with this front may cause more damaging storms for QLD and NSW, and low level snowfalls in TAS. (down to 300m at last call).
I'm doing a bus trip/shuttle from the winery district in NE melb to a concert near Healesville on Sat - may get pic op when this event comes in - (still working out how to convert from new camera-phone to computer so i can post at later stage).
Anyone down this way -including those who need a break from the deluge in QLD, this event is one to look out for.
