Unfortunately this lot of convection was not even monitored by many...it was fairly humid that day and I was out rural at a friend's place doing a photo shoot for him. I had noticed some large convection to the NW late in the afternoon but honestly did not bother! A couple of people here got some photos. The cell was displaying electrification in the dome for about 5 mins and spat out about 3 positive strikes after about 20 mins and then dissipated. Totally unusual for that time of the year and an upper level trough had in fact moved in from the NW WA area and clipped Darwin as it moved through...does not take much CAPE to get things going here. Even with the drier SE winds the cells found a location which is well known for large storms but a little inacessable - in the Litchfield National Park region and not too many roads to get to storms that form out there.
