Sender: aussie-weather-approval at world.std.com Reply-To: aussie-weather at world.std.com Hi everyone I am planning in taking approx 10 - 14 days holidays from work during easter, probably from the 3rd of april to the 13th or 16th, and heading north to NE NSW (Ballina/Coff's Harbour/etc) and probably up to Brisbane to meet the brisbane chasers. Anyone who wants to come is more than welcome, i just want to get an idea of numbers at this stage, and i will try and find out about petrol/accomodation at places along the way (maybe the brisbane people or people along the NSW coast such as Paul at Taree or anyone else up around NE NSW can put us up for a night or 2, it would be most appreciated :) I can take 2 people maximum, and that will split costs 3 ways. Of course if there are storms we will chase, if not we can be tourists :) Please contact me if you want to come, remeber this is during the school/Uni holidays so hopefully there will be some interest. Basically i have 6 weeks paid holidays and i need a break, ill save the rest for november/december/january next year. Thanks for your time! Been in Brisbane just two and a half months. Moved up from Canberra, where I lived for two and a half years. Before that was Melbourne where I grew up. I guess I'm primarily interested in photographing lightning. I'm always excited at watching the development of a storm for the possibility of reaching this aim. I also admire the big chunky cloud formations! (Please excuse me if I'm being too technical!) I, like most of the newbies, are only just starting to grasp the lingo. I have a great weather book, however, which gives me all types of clouds, with plenty of pics, and heaps more about the weather, and am currently finding it very interesting. Canberra was frustrating for me regarding storms, as they were quite rare (in the time I spent there, anyhow). I moved up to Brisbane for work, but was also very excited as I was told Brisbane had a lot more lightning storms. So I'm hoping to get lots of photos! My details are as follows: Suburb: Toombul, Brisbane ICQ: 11790565 Home ph: (07)3256-7756 Work ph (after midday): (07)3257-1053 Email: martyp at dynamite.com.au Images of Canberra: http://www2.dynamite.com.au/martyp Lightning Photos: http://www2.dynamite.com.au/martyp/lightning <-- hardly any there yet! I live in Blackheath in the Upper Mountains with my parter Marion. I'm 33 and have been interested in the weather all my life but the interest has increased since I moved to the mountains almost 2 years ago. We get lots of interesting variables up here that make weather observing great fun. I work part time on my writing (2nd novel set in the mountains) and part time in contract delivery work and also assist with Marion's music business, she teaches at the conservatoriums in Wentworth Falls and Penrith. I also work with male surivors of sexual abuse (Coz I am one) in the local area via support groups etc. I have also had pretty major health struggles but am around 50-70% better now in spite of the docs prognosis etc. One of my great loves is walking out in a snow storm up here when its below Zero coz virtually no-else is around, cept maybe the odd Yowie or two - the subject of my next novel for young folk - "Howl". I just wanted to let everyone know that I; 1) Will bring along a VHS video with the Texas 97 tornado storms that was on channel 7 last Saturday. 2) Will include a copy of my video shot in 1991 that shows about 4 waterspouts (maybe 6) in a line on Lake Malawi from the shores of Malawi near Chilumba looking east across the lake to Tanzania some 30km distant. The conditions that caused this rare phenonema warrants some discussion. 3) Raise the issue of proxy and/or postal voting for remote ASWA future members. There are some legal matters to be considered in relation to this and the logistics of managing the process.
