There is a low combined with an upper level trough moving over the region. The BOM have isolated T'Storms forecast and the radar shows a line of storms of the coast. The BOM have issued a thundersquall warning for parts of the SA coast. You just never know, could be a repeat of the other day. But offcourse as all things go it is expected to weaken as it touches Victoria, dammit. Does anyone thing Melbourne has a chance of a storm out of this system. For example what are its boundaries? What approx. area does it cover? Why is this particular area called the central tablelands? You have drawn a map of the approx. area on your internet site so I'm guessing you have some idea of it's boundaries and what area it covers because nobody else I've tried calling seems to have any idea. I would really appreciate any information you might be able to give about this. Unfortunately getting to the snowfields from Ulladulla isn't much better going either via Batemans Bay-Queanbeyan or via the coast, turning off just b4 Bega - both can be done; maybe 4 hours or so each way. I think the Brindabellas, near Canberra, is the only other area which is high enough to be reliable and is considerably closer to Ulladulla. On another note, unfortunately I missed the Sydney chasers Sat night out due to the shitty little piece of RNA aptly named the Sydney virus. Finally, whats happening with the e-storm report card which Paul put together? We diuscussed this at the last ASWA meeting and I'm not sure if anyone has since volunteered to manage it. If not, with the PhD out of my hair, I'll gladly do it as this will provide ASWA with a detailed database of Australian severe weather events - so long as events are recorded. Me!! I know Im crazy but Ill admit I enjoy it, just the getting out of bed bit is dificult. The temp in the freezer was -18 to -23C and 4KQ said it was 5C in the city. What amazes me is the amount of people up and about walking dogs and jogging etc at this time - it is quite beautiful when the sun comes up and there are no clouds in sight, but fog and frost so I guess thats why some people call it the best part of the day. I would estimate, from the scale provided, that the Central Tablelands covers about 20,000 square kMs, but have a look for yourself... I would suggest that basically it is named as Central obviously because of it's central position on the ranges with respect to NSW, and Tablelands because the Deviation (Standard Deviation) of the altitude of tops of hills/mountains in the region is relatively small (this is the requirement for tablelands isn't it?). Hopefully this helps...
