We've now had about 320mm for June, quite a bit above the June average of 118. Today was cloudy apart from a brief sunny patch this morning. Large cumulus and stratus with cloud bases close to the ground at times - elevation here is 155m. Only reached 16.3 C with fresh SE winds. Shower and rain activity has eased off here now, and contracted northwards. Always measure at 9am each day and record amounts to the nearest 0.2mm, rounded up. This gauge has in inner tube that holds about 25mm and the outer one can hold up to 250mm. Graduations on the tube are in 0.5mm increments, so its fairly easier to measure accurate totals. Make sure the gauge is installed close to the ground as far away from objects - trees/houses as you can. It lasted about 10 minutes but melted fairly quickly after settling on the ground. I'd be interested to know what the temperature was at the time since, although it was cold, I don't think it was exceptionally cold. I seem to remember that the cloud was a tall cumulus and this may have been a factor. - Paul G. >From: Don White>Reply-To: aussie-weather at world.std.com >To: Aussie Weather >Subject: aus-wx: snow in Sydney >Date: Sun, 27 Jun 1999 17:18:41 +1000 > >Tomorrow is the anniversary of the only measurable snow in Sydney on 28 >June 1836.
