I have my pics of the 28th August storm that moved through NE NSW. So you
can see the backs of these storms on Ben's link above, and the shelf cloud

Well, I deleted 95 instances of that message and tracked it down
to what I think is that particular "hotmail.com" mail server
"f149.law3.hotmail.com [209.185.241.149]" responsible. We're lucky
that it didn't stuff up the list. Anyhow, identical message ID
indicates a configuration problem of "qmail" within that "hotmail"
server. For some reason confirmation of delivery to "world.std.com"
represented by "root at world-f.std.com [199.172.62.5]" was not received
or ignored, so it kept on sending. It also failed to back off
properly until someone pulled the plug at Hotmail, so to speak.
Ummm, naughty-naughty Mr. Hotmail...

Yes - I received it 94 times. I believe it was not daniel's finger that stuttered on the SEND function - and I would like to find out why this mesage got stuck in the system. NEwsworthy, perhaps, - but was it that earthshattering?

While we are on the topic of photos, I've also scanned a few.

First lot are of a roll cloud with a weak front approaching just as the sun
us setting some time in January this year, taken with a disposable camera i
only got them developed last week.

Second lot are a bunch of sunset pics

And the Third lot are photos of clouds/cb's etc from the trip to Darwin
Nick S,Paul M, Greg and myself did last December. There all taken from the
plane, the rest of the photos I took were double exposed :(, but these
arent to shabby :)

PS->I got dan's email 92 times.

This morning something at hotmail went crazy and spewed out 95 copies of
Sydney funnel until I noticed it and unsubscribed the author (which didn't
stop the messages from coming to "the world" but just stopped them from
propagating through the list). Something must have gone awry at hotmail,
because as that was happening, I was getting "Undeliverable Mail" notices
from other accounts at hotmail. For every "Sydney Funnel" message I got, I
received a half dozen "undeliverable mail" messages fortunately I have a
40Meg mail spool.

Everything seems to be back to normal again, and I have re-subbed the
author.

Hi everyone,

Jimmy here. I must say that as usual when you write e-mails no matter how
experienced you are, things can go wrong. My statement in terms of South
Australia was not intended in this way. In fact I was being more positive
towards the South Australians to be able to get more attendances than on a
comparative basis than that from NSW. I apologise to the South Australian
members and Andrew. You are doing a fantastic job. My comments more or less
related to NSW only able to attract an handful of members from 31+ members!!!

What we have decided to do is check times and dates to try and suit others.
Maybe this was one of those extreme circumstances but even a recent video
night and two social nights were poorly unattended. So when the meeting did
similar, I was extremely disappointed. I would imagine that more will turn
up next time.

On a more serious note, it is the norm in most associations to send in
apologies with someone to indicate non-attendance. We only had a few. So it
is disheartening to observe lower numbers hen you turn up especially with a
new member joining. So please, send in your apologies and take note of a
few other things that were noted in my previous e-mails. But I am taking
the blame for poor notice of this meeting ie one week.

Now that is interesting Don!!! I am only 3km away and we had only 0.6mm
from this 1.2mm for the whole rain event altogether. What I have been
observing in storms for years has again proven true. I can now almost
imagine what happened even though I wasn't here!!!

Were there any reports of small hail?? I like the light green tinge and
structure with these storms.

Hello all,

Just a quick intro from a newcomer to the list.

My name is Sel Kerans, a secondary school teacher and coordinator of
Project Atmosphere Australia On-line, an internet-based program for schools
encompassing many levels of schooling and curriculum areas with the
activities on offer.

I have some cloud/weather photo galleries up at my site, for those
interested - see the signature address.

Note that the web server has been down several days, so be patient if
interested in looking. There are quite a lot of severe-weather-related pics
there - Michael Fewings was good enough to let us use on of his lightning
images there, with a link to his site.

My interests are in web site work, I also manage 6 mailing lists associated
with the project and I am mad keen on severe weather and photography and
creating enthusiasm in students for learning about the weather through a
range of experiences.

My main teacher area is Information Technology, though I am a teacher of
the weather via the internet these days!

Cheers for now,

Sel Kerans.

I have added several new sunsets. The results are quite good. This roll was
Fuji Serperia and taking Ira's advice I had the roll processed by a Fuji
mini lab ( process like film with like lab ).

The only filter used was a polariser for the two sunrise pics, and the pics
were not altered from the photos after scanning.
