Have just been down to the wharf and took about 2 hours or so lightning video which will hopefully come out ok as it was my first real go at doing that. Lightning was every second at stages and probably averaged about one every three or four for the last 4 hours. Hopefully a display like the one I got from Edith Falls while doing a tour of the Top End 10 days or so ago repeats itself here. It was a camping tour so unfortunately it wasn't practical to take my video camera :-(. That was probably up in the best 2 or 3 I have ever seen, only a couple I saw last year up here were better. Just good to see storms around again after a few days of late Dry type weather over the last week or so Good luck to all on the Big Chase Chris ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ To unsubscribe from aussie-weather send e-mail to:majordomo at world.std.com with "unsubscribe aussie-weather your_email_address" in the body of your message. -----------------------jacob at iinet.net.au------------------------------ 002 X-Sender: astroman at mail.chariot.net.au X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Pro Version 4.2.0.58 Date: Sat, 20 Nov 1999 09:50:45 +1030 To: aussie-weather at world.std.com From: astroman [astroman at chariot.net.au] Subject: aus-wx: Small storms in Adelaide this morning Sender: aussie-weather-approval at world.std.com Reply-To: aussie-weather at world.std.com Hi ppls, With the passage of the tropical rain band Adelaide had a couple of small thunderstorms roll through at about 7:30am local time. One did make it to Pink on radar but looked disorganized and looked as though it would fade out, but as luck would have it, it stayed that way for about 30 minutes before turning to a slightly lesser green. I managed to see one lightning bolt from it, mainly because the rest of the lightning was inside or on the other side of the rain, making it virtually impossible to detect visually. The rest of the day looks hopeful heaps of convection around and by the looks of radar and sat pics plenty of rain around also. Will keep you all updated through out the day if anything more happens. BoM have forcasted more storms later so fingers crossed.. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ To unsubscribe from aussie-weather send e-mail to:majordomo at world.std.com with "unsubscribe aussie-weather your_email_address" in the body of your message. -----------------------jacob at iinet.net.au------------------------------ 003 Date: Sat, 20 Nov 1999 09:23:28 +1100 From: Ben Quinn [bodie at flatrate.net.au] X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.61 [en] (Win95; I) X-Accept-Language: en To: aussie-weather at world.std.com Subject: aus-wx: Storm Damage Sender: aussie-weather-approval at world.std.com Reply-To: aussie-weather at world.std.com Hey Ben from Brisbane here.. I think it was Michael Thompson who thought there could be a supercell on the darling downs from the System that we had earlier on this week? It turns out that a severe storm (probably a supercell) tore through the eastern Darling Downs late Tuesday afternoon.. I have slapped up a quick report for the recent events section of BSCH.. http://www.bsch.simplenet.com/products/recentevents.htm Radar loops of the storm are also available.. i estimate the storm lasted over 3 hours, and it was red on radar for 1 hour and 40 mins of that time.. -----------------------jacob at iinet.net.au------------------------------ 004 Date: Sat, 20 Nov 1999 09:22:13 +0930 From: Paul Mossman [paulmoss at tpgi.com.au] X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.08 [en] (Win98; I) To: aussie-weather at world.std.com Subject: aus-wx: Storms in Darwin this Morning Sender: aussie-weather-approval at world.std.com Reply-To: aussie-weather at world.std.com Howdy all. Was woken up with the best sound this morning - thunder. Near stationary storm now been sitting on the Northern suburbs for at least 2 hours - with pink still on radar. Thunder every 1 minute - should be getting some reasonable totals there! The storm from Thursday dumped 39mm on Palmerston & NT Wildlife park in 25 minutes! Alayngula in 24 hrs to 9am Friday had 114mm!! Now time for some rain here! - Sprinkles this morning but nothing more yet. 005 Paul at Darwin.
