More pink that on the butt of a pig! > Yeah Paul and list, In the aftermath of festivities that little low scooted down the coast dumping on all in its path - some thunder at times, particularly after it passed. Storm here yesterday pm collapsed as in came off the ranges from the NW. Mackay area (S of here) got storms in the wee am this morning which knocked out most radio and TV (and the i'net system) for some hours. Rain here was 162 mm for last 6 days to 6am, including 83mm to 6am on the 27th. Freshened the place up a bit, and ran some rivers. The cane farmers are smiling. Today another beautiful day in paradise! see ya. Now (1330) there's closer thunder to the S, and 7/8 very messy cloud cover but with strong sunshine striking through occasionally. Radar is certainly showing the effects of this with bits of yellow, green and pink popping up everywhere. If you download the last few hours of water vapour or IR pix from http://www.yoko.npmoc.navy.mil/nsds-e20shots/austwv/ or http://www.yoko.npmoc.navy.mil/nsds-e20shots/austir/ and animate them, you can see very rapid growth in the CuSc field behind the trough, and clear rotation around the low in eastern Bass Strait. There's been a lot of Cu/Cb growth west of the Great Divide between about Orange and Moree between the 0030z and 0130z shots (11.30 and 12.30 EDST), especially visible on the WV images. As I write, there's increasing thunder to the W. Anyone chasing? Presently some occasional rumbling thunder with rain looking like it's 'setting in'. I hope this east coast low slows down a bit as it comes south. I am especially interested in the likely development or otherwise of the southern extension of the trough ie whether a secondary low will centre near Sydney. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ To unsubscribe from aussie-weather send e-mail to:majordomo at world.std.com with "unsubscribe aussie-weather your_email_address" in the body of your message. -----------------------jacob at iinet.net.au------------------------------ 008 Date: Tue, 28 Dec 1999 12:42:42 +0800 From: Mark Dwyer [mjd at wantree.com.au] X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.7 [en] (Win98; I) X-Accept-Language: en To: "aussie-weather at world.std.com" [aussie-weather at world.std.com] Subject: aus-wx: WA Chase/drive Sender: aussie-weather-approval at world.std.com Reply-To: aussie-weather at world.std.com Hi all well we are about to head off to Pearce Air Base on the local Radar for Perth, to have a look at what is happening ok. I came home(i start work shortly) and currently James/Jimmy are at Camden, watching a cell to there west which has just gone red on radar. BTW, at my house in Burwood, we had 34mm since i had been gone, my dad said it p!$$#& down, gutters overflowing etc, yet at the 2 closest AWS's to me (Homebush and Canterbury) They currently show falls of only 12 and 4mm respectivly since 9am... It continued for about half an hour, just as heavy the whole time, with plenty of loud cracks of thunder. I'm not sure of the amount of rain, the inner 25mm cylinder overflowed into the outer cylinder, plus i wasn't home to record yesterday's rain, which mum says was about 10mm, but she didn't record it for some reason. So it's still in there. And the storm was pretty featureless as you note.
