Hi Phil

I cannot frame grab off video :(

Possibility of more storms today, but Adelaide might only get a bit of
rain, looks like North, North east, and east are the best places to be, but
thats what they said for Sunday and look what happened. I will have my
fingers and toes crossed all day today. Hopefully we get some night time
storms this time, be nice to see lightning close up again. If there are
storms close, I can only chase up to Gawler after 4pm, as I only have
limited fuel on board. (pay day tomorrow)

Andrew

Hi all,

The were isolated storms in the south this morning heading towards the SW,
Static count was about 1 every 5seconds but dropped to 1 ever 20-30 seconds
after it hit the coast and went over water, I cannot hear anything from it
now.

There still remains a slim chance of storms this afternoon so fingers crossed.

Hi all

Did anybody archive the Adelaide local radar between about 2 and 5pm CST on
Sunday?
Also, did anybody archive any satpics and or surface charts?

Would appreciate any info.

TIA

Hi all,

We had a band of storms/showers go through here early this afternoon! I
thought they were showers at first, but tops to 25,000ft and glaciation
on the tops, and a very small anvil showed otherwise! Of course, I was
inside dealing (with idiots) to get my dad's birthday present - and I
took my eye off the weather for half an hour, and then it just POURED
down, with winds to 35-40kn!!! One of our gates was blown off its
hinges (the bottom hinge was already broken), and while driving around,
there was the odd branch down on the ground/road. I followed the band,
but got caught in rain, rain, and torrential rain! Fair bit of water
over the road - I got 7.4mm in 6 minutes - not bad!!! Anyway - lots of
idiots on the roads (in the space of 3 intersections, I had 2 people
pull out in front of me, floor it, and then lose control as the back of
their car began to spin out...) I couldn't believe the stupidity of
some people!

There appears to be a nasty accident on the Gateway southbound - I heard
lots of sirens after showers/storms had cleared - and then when I went
to the shops, I noticed that the Gateway southbound was at a complete
standstill.

A few heavy showers around still - the cells got into up into the pink
(from broad scale, the local scale showed 0-2mm/hr intensity - I don't
think so!!!)

Hi all.

Darwin got 128mm til 9am taking us into near record territory.
Some decent falls from here til end of April will be interesting.

I had 112mm here. Feels like February again after a very dry end to
March.

Anybody know when the TC outlooks officially finish?

Re: Dr Jones comments - I couldnt agree more - but I thought he
was more referring to people voicing their opinions and others not
taking it as a personal attack rather then just being sarcastic for
the sake of it - but if thats the view of the majority then cool.

You thought Darwin was bad, try Tauranga. (Bay of Plenty, North Island)
175mm in 24 hours - more than their monthly average! Actually heavy (though
not nearly that heavy) in many other parts of North Island yesterday and
overnight, but easing today. Fine over most of South Island. (cloud clearing
from Christchurch by late afternoon)

Hello Everyone

This is probably not the place to mention this (those of a sensitive
nature may wish to delete this email) but we have had some very nice
weather lately!
It has been balmy, max temps around 19C, minimum's around 8C, sunshine
all day with light winds.
The result is the Hydro Electric Commission has started to take the oil
fired power station out of mothballs. The long term storage dams are
both below 50% of capacity (Lake Gordon, Great Lakes). The oil fired
power station will be required if we continue this drier than normal
weather.
There is a climate conference in Hobart. One of the media releases has
the strong westerly winds heading south. This has caused the Jem fish to
stop breading, there is also concern for the abalone and crayfish
breading in Tasmanian waters.

Hi I know not weather related but those in Sydney or have access to the
Daily Telegraph look out for a story on our school - Chifley College the
Bidwill Campus. Please take note - it's another example of the press
trying to cause trouble. Oh well.

Weather related. I wished I was in SA at the moment. Some massive storms
developing and probable dumping a fair bit of rain of the pastoral
districts. Some interesting activity also follows. We shall wait what that
has installed for us.

Hi Anthony and all,

Well... I could see some nice Cu streets and showers to the South of Sumner,
almost worthy of a photo at one stage, but I had estimated tops to be less
than 20,000ft and certainly nothing appeared on lightning tracker. Also no
measurable rain at Sumner, and only 0.2mm at Mt. Crosby today.

Mt. Crosby continues to be extremely dry for this time of year. Total
rainfall for March was less than 1 inch at around 22mm, and the sliding 30
day daily average continues to fall, now down to just 0.33 mm/day. Total
rainfall for the last 4 days is a miserable 1.7mm, and this has evaporated
without wetting the ground. There are now 1cm cracks in bare Earth in front
of the house, and 6m established Brush Box and Red Ash trees are showing
visible signs of water stress, i.e., limp leaves and defoliation. Bushfire
risk is now high. We could really use a 50..75mm dump...

This situation has been brought about by continuing Quidge conditions, weak
inactive surface troughs and an absence of decent upper level systems or
tropical depressions in the vicinity. Moisture has thus been confined to a
very narrow coastal strip. There seems to be no sign of any imminent break
in the pattern.

Basically,
(
