Hi,

I worked at the CSIRO for a little while and while I was there, they were
starting to exercise the new agremenets on outsourcing. It was totally
confined to the IT maintaininece section - ie network admin etc. The science
was left for the scientists, atleast in the division I was in. Funny enough
though, the people who were 'meant' to be outsourced were simply hired by
the external company - so no changes were really seen. However, this was
only the first phase and many of my collegues were concerned that managment
might change and make an already difficult situation worse - not sure if
this has taken effect yet.

Cheers,
Lyle

Hi all, despite some rain today 6.2mm to 9am and another 10mm up to 3pm
(which counts towards May's total) it was another dry month here in Kilsyth
in outer eastern Melbourne. It was the third month in a row with below
average rainfall and the fourth April in a row with below average rainfall.
My observations are summarized below averages and dates in brackets.
Average Maximum 21.7c ( 20.0c)
Average Minimum 9.6c (10.1c)
Warmest Day 27.9c (11th)
Coldest Day 14.4c (30th)
        Warmest Night 15.1c (29th)
Coldest Night 2.4c (25th)
Rainfall 43.6mm ( 74.1mm)
Year to date 192.6mm (253.5mm)
Days of Thunder 1 (16th)
Days of Hail 1 ( 16th)
Days of Fog 2
Looks like this could be the fourth dry year in a row here, no wonder
Melbournes water catchments which were full 3 years ago are now less than
half full. Dane Newman.

Excellent report Tony and MSC - the gustfront pics are just superb, among
the best I have seen.

Nice pictures Tony. It sure looks dry in your part of the country though.

I like the pic of the storms over Bass Strait.

The next NSW ASWA meeting will be held on Saturday 13th May at Weather 21,
which is situated at:
Location address
7 West St
North Sydney. Parking available on the streets.
Time: 6:30pm.

This venue seemed to be popular for most that attended when the AMOS
Weatherwatch group hosted it there. This is now going to be our new venue.

I have approached one of our members to talk about lightning photography at
the next meeting but I will confirm this next time I post.

Just note the date in your diary and I hope this will make for even better
future meetings. I would like to to thank Mark Hardy and Weather 21 for
allowing ASWA the opportunity to host our meetings at such a suitable
venue. Upon that point, I would like to personally thank on behalf of ASWA
Mario Orazem for the use of his house as a venue in the past several months.
