Well, the BOM got it wrong this weekend. Sta forecast was for showers &
storms. he. None at all. Beautiful clear day, with a gusty 40km/h SE wind.
On Sunday it was supposed to be clear. He. It was for about 2 hours, then
clouded over, had some brief rain (1.8mm). But they got it right for today.
Showers this morning, and TStorm happening now to the East, with CG and a
well defined rain "curtain". Phoned someone living under it and they said
it was pelting down. Looks promising for this arvo with more storms due.

Paul.

BoM Radar is now user-id/password protected. Party's over:-( If you
are still seeing radar images through your browser, check the date
stamp (it'll be 26/11/98), clear all your browser memory and disk
caches then try again - you'll get challenged...

Hi Paul

As an ammeter chaser here in West Australia, I dont really have the
knowledge to predict from looking at the skies like some people can. I think
it is a really good idea to receive any possible info about the weather
around my area as well as any other place in Australia via e-mail. I am more
likely to receive an e-mail warning than any other means and Im sure many
others would agree

Regards

Greg Spencer

hey,
or if the BoM would be kind enough to have left the radar access free to
everyone, we wouldn't need emails we, could see it coming from our own
screens without having to pay a fortune! now THAT would be a great idea!!:)
i had a great time over the weekend, doing around australia trips via the
web checking out the entire coast for storms! was so dissappointed when i
went to check todays weather!!
steve from gold coast

p.s. looks promising for another storm this arvo, but can't tell cos no
radar! boohoo!!

WOW - I thought I was looking at a mesocyclone Anthony (pics 3 and 4).
Very spectacular shelf cloud!

Actually can anyone tell me why some storms, usually squall lines, often
exhibit this multi-tiered appearance. Does this reflect different
inflow-outflow boudaries along the leading edge of the storm??

Whatever the cause such storms are usually fantastic to watch on their
approach, although at the speeds they move, such as the 80 km/h I think
the BoM quoted for this one, I wouldn't fancy chasing them.

Cheers

David

Hi all,

7:52pm EST here, lightning to me W and SW, looks like I might miss most
of it, as they appear to be moving more north then NE :-( Severe
t'storm warning has been out since 5:35pm. I had a small storm over me
earlier today, it was a mix of TCU and Cb. I heard about 6
rumbles/claps of thunder, and received 1.1mm of rain, and also received
pea sized hail!
