Hi every1!

As boring as it might sound, I remember in November 1996 just listening
to the ABC during a wonderfully humid afternoon, suddenly "they"
interrupted with a "severe storm warning"; ...I've still got the satpics
from later in the day....wonderful looking TS's.....Great storms! Too
bad they were 50 k's north...:(

Kevin.

Hi Laurier,

I thought I had better set the record straight in relation
to my previous message before my credibility is totally
shot to pieces. (I am hoping that I will have real cause
to send a similar message to the list in a couple of
months time!! and I will want to be believed then...)

My message was, of course, just my bit of fun with the list
on the 1st of April having myself been caught out a
bit earlier that morning.

Unfortunately, using hotmail and getting a 31 March timestamp
instead of 1 April probably adds slightly more credibility
to such a message compared with the greater skepticism that
one would have in seeing a timestamp of 1 April.

Sorry for the confusion,

Patrick

Hi all - a real message this time.

Light rain started to fall in Canberra about 8.00 (had
about 1mm since then - now 8.40).

Nothing too remarkable except that rain wasn't predicted
until tomorrow. I notice that the US models are really
going for some heavy falls over SE Aust for Monday.

Looking at the animations, the rain over Canberra seems
to have developed from an inland trough over central NSW.
This is well ahead of the main trough that has cloud
thickening nicely to the north of Adelaide.

I am hoping this central NSW trough is not having too
much impact on the south coast today as I was hoping
for a boring day at the beach. (The animation shows
a few clear patches between the Sc at the moment
anyway...)

with heavy periods, total of 16mm till 9am and its still raining now...that
makes 74mm over the last 3 days.. not to bad and more over the next week i

Matt, and all the others who have discussed it since last week, this rain
is not bad considering the forecast was chance of an isolated showers or
two and clearing etc. This is why one should cautiously approach forecasts.
Michael Bath and I discussed that rain was probable from last Wednesday. I
am wondering if there is pressure on teh Bureau at times to give the most
optomistic forecasts possible. Just think of the effect it would have on
the tourism industry....

Just a rain filled debate starter.

We had a nice brief heavy fall last night and then some long periods of
some heavier falls this morning. In total, 24.6mm. One of the showers or
two came straight through Schofields!!!

Hi everyone,
Slight intermittent rain has just commenced here (14:20
EST). To the south west the mid level cloud strata is broken and there
looks to be a fair bit of large cumulus activity. Mid level cloud
movement is from the north.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you Matt. Yes I am planning to go on the storm chase in November. at this stage i dont know if I will be taking my own car or not. it depends on how my car is running at the time and who else is going ect . Dane Newman

-----Original Message-----
Hi Everyone

There has been talk for a couple of months now about a chase to North East
NSW/ South East Queensland during late November/early December of this
year. So far a fair few VIC people are very
interested(Clive,Chris,Jane,Paul,Dane) as well as NSW (Matt P,Matt S,
Jimmy) and QLD people (Anthonly/James/Ben).
The chase will last around 2 weeks or so, nothing is finalised at this
stage and this email is being sent out to get an idea of people who are
interested in attending.
Of course seats in cars will limit numbers (Eg if only 2 people with cars
from NSW go, then probably 3 Maximum in each car.)
Basically we plan to travel where the storms take us and probably stay at
the closest town for the night.
Anyway its months off and lots more discussion is going to take place,
but if your interested give me a mail PERSONALLY and if you are willing to
be a passenger/take your own car/or share the driving in someones car.

Thanks alot!
