If you are interest, there's also a digest version, which combines all

Hi Jane, and all,

I've been on wx-chase for just over a year now - and while I think it's
good that the US people get a dose of AU-wx - I think you have to
becareful - as unfortunately, (no offence to any of our friendly US
counterparts on this list), some of the US people are very arrogant.
I'm sure some of you will remember, that people were complaining about
hurricane chasing on the wx-chase list, as they're not interested in
it! Lots of little 'scuffles' like this have happened in the past.
Just don't make it too obvious that you're trying to give thema dose of
aus-wx, or you may end up sparking another argument (which seems to be
rather prevalent). Wx-talk doesn't seem as bad, but I think that's
because there's not as many people.

Thanks for that Les. In actual fact, Matthew Piper has offered to bring the
video to the meeting this weekend. Even so, I wouldn't mind a copy of the
cd-rom to keep (I'll see what the show is like on Saturday I guess).

I would be interested in seeing the photos of this as well.

I was in the Yass area just after this time which is about 50km from Booroowa
(not storm chasing but visiting the nearby wineries...). If you want to know
where Booroowa is - you can find it in the NE corner of the Wagga local radar
map.

I noticed the weather was quite variable across a fairly short distance that
day. In Canberra for the whole day we had overcast conditions with low cloud
base and persistent drizzle which occasionally became heavier showers from time
to time.

On driving out towards Yass in a NW direction, about 20km from Canberra, the
drizzle stopped and the cloud base lifted. The sky remained overcast although
there were occasional breaks which indicated there was cumuliform development -
but not strong due to the ongoing overcast conditions.

I had noticed that there were some heavier showers on the radar to the NE
through to SE of Wagga during the middle of the day - given the persistence of
the cloud, I didn't think there was potential for anything much other than
showers.

If the photos do show a tornado, maybe the BOM may have some archives of the
Wagga local maps - although Wagga goes off-line at 3pm for upper wind obs. I
didn't save any radar images as there didn't seem to be much potential.

I notice that WA has a severe storm warning for later today.

Patrick

Hi all,

Well things are shaping up here to be quite severe today in
WA.

Currently the barometric pressure is down to 996 and falling
and the wind off the coast is already blowing over 40 knots.
There are thunderstorms off the coast and we are still to
get the associated cold front with this system.

A low has developed that is 985 hpa and deepening at around
40S and is moving east at 40 knots and there is a severe
thunderstorm warning out for the entire SW of WA including
Perth.

Bunkering down for a rough one today.

Those who ordered shirts.... well no money, no shirts.

BTW those with shirts should wear them!!!!

Remember, all are welcome; visitors and members. It seems we have quite a

you will blend in easily with this mob. Anyway see you all there.
