Crosby. (~55mm). Darn cold though, Max today here was 14.5C at 4:00pm, shiver. Now 11.5C under a clear sky and cooling rapidly. Could be some nasty frosts in the susceptible sites, everything is still drenched, but perhaps not, we must be close to the DP already so it will probably just fog up. The cold outbreak is supposed to have long since gone East, but it sure doesn't feel like it. Currently now 11.8C, and cold. It was 14.2C in the CBD, 13.8C on the Captain Cook Bridge, 13.1C average on the freeway, 12.7C at Mt Gravatt, dropped to 10.9C in a cold pocket on Creek Rd, and when I got home about 30mins ago, it was 12.3C - yes, I had nothing better to do, then watch temperature patterns on the thermo on the car. As an aside - as you mentioned about the 'cold outbreak' - the air above us has been EXTREMELY cold - this morning it was -20C at 500mb, and -45C at 300mb, at 11Z the temperature at 300mb had dropped to -49C!!! This is the coldest that I have ever seen it by far, I believe even Melbourne does well to get down to temperatures near -50C at 300mb during cold outbreaks. Rockhampton was also very cold, also being -20C at 500mb - which I believe is very substantial for its latitude. Still, it's cold, wet (although clearing now), and miserable! But perhaps better then being walking bug zappers in the dry SW'ly winds.
