I couldnt see any obvious rotation, but on the video footage several lowerings drop and last for a few minutes. As I was baby sitting, I couldnt check out any damage path, but when I rang the Bom, they had no reports of damage. The filming started at 5.0pm on the 27/05/00, and the kids alerted me to the strange cloud formation after a brief intense hail shower had passed." I hope to show the footage approx 25mins at the meeting on the 24th. Quite a low topped cloud wasn't it? Was that 'structure' on the leading or trailing edge of the cloud? Did he see any signs of rotation [hard to tell from the frame grabs]? Most importantly - did/could Peter check the area over which it passed [assuming it's not out at sea or something] for a damage path? Pity he didn't take some hi-res stills along with the vid. Very interesting though. ____________________________________________________________________________ _ + Phil 'Paisley' Bagust + " Nothing matters anymore... + + paisley at cobweb.com.au + Not even the fact + + http://www.chariot.net.au/~paisley2 + That nothing matters..." Even stranger, said national high was at Gingin, just north of Perth - remarkably far south for a national high at this time of year. Perth Airport itself got to 26, not a record but the highest this far into winter (the June record of 27.8 was set on 5/6/1975). Hi all, Anthony rang me wanting radar for Brisbane at about 3.40pm & early in the broad loop there were some nice grunty 10-20's showing up just off the coast from Brisbane...Anthony also commented about having to drive with 2 hands firmly on the steering wheel to prevent being all over the road.......sounds like there were some pretty good wind gusts between 3 & 4pm - what was the max gust you had? Ben's pics from today look somewhat like the cold Cb's we get in Victoria during cold outbreaks with some basic differences - one being the freezing level, and another being height - compare northern cold Cbs (Brisbane - 27South) FZL = 3087 mtrs, at http://www.bsch.simplenet.com/ben/temp3/shower2.jpg http://www.bsch.simplenet.com/ben/temp3/shower3.jpg with southern cold Cbs (Melbourne - 38South) FZL = 1080 mtrs, at http://www.rubix.net.au/~cadence/cold_cbs.htm Jane -------------------------------- Jane ONeill cadence at rubix.net.au Melbourne Storm Chasers http://www.rubix.net.au/~cadence ASWA - Victoria http://www.severeweather.asn.au -------------------------------- +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ To unsubscribe from aussie-weather send e-mail to:majordomo at world.std.com with "unsubscribe aussie-weather your_email_address" in the body of your message. -----------------------jacob at iinet.net.au------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Jun 2000 09:53:07 +1000 From: Don White X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.5 [en] (Win98; I) X-Accept-Language: en To: Aussie Weather Subject: aus-wx: Pressure Sender: aussie-weather-approval at world.std.com Reply-To: aussie-weather at world.std.com For trivia buffs, it is worth watching the pressure in the SE tonight.
