With an air temp of 40-42C and sea surface temp at least 15C cooler a marked surface inversion would have existed, similar I suppose to a cold morning. Leith's description of exaggerated features and elevated tree lines sounds very similar to what I saw. It was a tad surprising to see a new mountain appear on the southern tip of Moreton Island and a "squared of" section of Stradbroke Island start floating well above the horizon with what appeared to be clear air below. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see the effect on features beyond and below the horizon, as Leith described, as it is only sea east of the islands. Good stuff though. The cost is free for the first 12 months and then a fee will be payable. If you would like to take advantage of this offer (as I have just done successfully), simply do the search on the name you'd like on the following page & then register your preferred name - it took about 30 minutes for the whole process to be completed - then there's the paperwork later, but at least it's registered... goto http://www.au.com/wiredworld PS: you have to do this before 11am Monday (AEST) I've registered www.stormchasers.au.com Lots of luck, Jane -------------------------------- Jane ONeill cadence at rubix.net.au Melbourne Storm Chasers http://www.rubix.net.au/~cadence ASWA - Victoria http://www.severeweather.asn.au -------------------------------- +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ To unsubscribe from aussie-weather send e-mail to:majordomo at world.std.com with "unsubscribe aussie-weather your_email_address" in the body of your message. -----------------------jacob at iinet.net.au------------------------------ X-Sender: astroman at mail.chariot.net.au X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Version 4.3.1 Date: Sun, 18 Jun 2000 20:55:15 +0930 To: aussie-weather at world.std.com From: Andrew Wall Subject: Re: aus-wx: Domain names - .au.com Sender: aussie-weather-approval at world.std.com Reply-To: aussie-weather at world.std.com Hey Jane, Just went and checked that site out, and www.sastorms.au.com is now registered as well.
