THe following was reported on the ABC web-site this morning.. Patrick "Man dies, three injured in storm A man has died and two police officers and a motorist are injured as a result of last night's severe thunderstorm over Perth. At Safety Bay, south of Perth, an 81-year-old man died when lightning struck his house, cutting off power and the respirator on which he relied. The strike blew the electrical fuses in the Fawdon Street house and caused the television set to explode, emitting toxic fumes. The man died before he and his respirator could be moved to a nearby property. Emergency services attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. At Fremantle, two police were injured when the vehicle which they were using to block off a street was hit by another vehicle. They had been called to East Street where houses had been damaged by the storm. One officer suffered neck and back injuries and the other minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle has minor leg injuries. Police have appealed to motorists to slow down and drive carefully as more stormy weather passes across the south of the state. Some impressive squalls was also on the line as it came through. There have been reports of a possible tornado in Fremantle, but I havent heard any more info about that. It's sunny on the moment, but its still very windy, here is the latest from the BoM: IDW11W00 BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY WESTERN AUSTRALIAN REGIONAL OFFICE PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST SEVERE WIND WARNING Issued at 12:40 pm WST on Saturday, 1 July 2000 For Southern parts of the Lower West and Southwest districts and the western parts of the southern coastal district including the Perth Metropolitan area, Bunbury, Busselton, Walpole and Albany. The passage of a complex low pressure system just to the south of the state is expected to cause damaging winds today. Winds averaging 80km/hr and gusting to 115km/hr may cause damage to property. Higher than normal tides may cause flooding in low-lying coastal areas. Wind gusts to 110 km/hr have been reported from Busselton Jetty and Cape Naturaliste. The State Emergency Service advises that people should secure loose objects and stay indoors when gales develop. Boat owners should ensure that small craft are securely moored. The next advice will be issued at 7pm this evening. Jacob At 10:08 1/07/00 +1000, you wrote: >Can anyone give us an update of what happened last night in Perth?
