It probably fell ENE of Central Wollongong, and was quite low in the sky when I spotted it, around 30degrees from the horizon. When I saw it disappear from sight behind the Novatel, it seemed to be travelling quite slowly, white in appearance, and with a trail of smaller fragments coming off it. My first thought was someone playing silly buggers while watching the moon, and lighting a flare. Unreal, my first proper meteor, and I didn't even realise it, although in my drunken state (waiting for a lift from my girlfriend to drive out of town for photos of the eclipse) I admit waiting to hear some sought of splashdown, but gave that thought away quickly as plain stupid. It goes to show. I guess now the only thing I didn't spot last night was the southern lights. Damn. I was out walking late one night and had a sudden strong urge to look directly up. Lo and behold there was this bright "star" equal in magnitude to say Rigel, zig zagging around at a speed and in a manner which no object I know of could possibly do.... Then I got to thinking... If this was simply a meteorite vectored almost directly towards me, it is possible that the zig zag movement is simply caused by uneven frictional forces altering the trajectory. The result would be as observed. The real question is why did I have the sudden urge to look directly up.... Hi Everyone,

I have put up a webpage which includes some pics of last Sundays Lunar Eclipse. All of the pics were taken using the still shot function of my Sony DCR-TRV320E Digital Video Camera.

P.S. I too also observed a number of meteors during the eclipse including the very bright one that Paul Graham mentions. I thought it was a firework it was so bright. From my vantage point it appeared low down in the sky towards the ESE.
