Irrespective of whether you believe in the human role in global warming or not, some of the desperate, ideologically inspired denials around the place, particularly from the fringes of the American right wing, are scary. Yes I am proud though, I think the ceremony was great. A pitty the Aboriginal part was a fake though. It is a shame that we show off to the world that we are so caring towards Aborigines when many of them have to live in slums and are treated like dirt by certain people. Also a shame we couldn't have highlighted other parts of our fantastic history like the stolen generation, wasn't that just great! Interesting how selective people can be! It all looked very good to the world but that part of the ceremony was very hypocritical. Anyway that's just my view. And this is a democracy where we can express our view points in public. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Hey all,

Today we had our first 38C of the spring with a max of 38.1C at 1:50pm WST (0550utc) shortly after the max was reached the seabreeze came in and the temp plummeted down by 6C to 32.1C now 2:30pm.  Looks like Australia is in for a long hot summer this year with the continent heating up VERY early!

Heres hoping for 40C on Monday :) (my birthday) hehe

Hey all :)

With the 38C max today in Karratha it was the equal hottest max temp in the state today.....the BoM went for a MAX of 31C in Karratha today :)
The very late seabreeze stuffed their forecast up....but with SE winds we rarely get a max below 35C in spring unless the seabreeze is extremely early (eg 10am)

!   Highest max:     38 deg at Roebourne, Karratha, Mardie, Curtin RAAF ... .

Forecast from this morning.......which was updated at 9:44am not sure what the one before had...

UPDATED
KARRATHA:
Fine.  Fresh SE winds before a moderate afternoon seabreeze.
    Maximum temperature: 31
    UV Index:    7 [VERY HIGH]

Current temp 30.1C thanks to a cooling seabreeze :)
Regards

Maybe the BoM should think a little bit more North and put it at Glenrowan. Right on top of the Warby ranges. The people at Glenrowan could see the "storm" over Milawa the other night, I wonder if the radar could "see" into this pocket if it was at Benalla? Good show put on by Aussie but I think that New Zealand is a better country. Even though the weather sometimes may be not as interesting as our Australian counterparts, I'd rather live here than anywhere else on this planet. We have:lower human population. Denser vegetation. No dangerous snakes\spiders\ants etc! and the All Blacks!!! but that's only my opinion! Mt. Crosby to end of August is 330.3mm. But it has been really dry since June, with only 23.5mm for July/August period and just 0.2mm in the last 38 days. Also of interest is how dry the air has been. I record the rel humidity around midnight using an electronic station indoors (in my Atrium as that is where I am interested in the humidity). Of course, even though the house is well ported to the outside, it in no way represents a true external humidity reading, but it is nevertherless an indication of moisture content in the air. For the ENTIRE 1999 year, I recorded just 36 days where the humidity reading was less than 50%. In contrast, yesterday was the first day that the humidity reading has exceeded 50% (51%) in 37 CONSECUTIVE days! Hell, I wish it would rain (where is that cloud?)
