Max replied that Ch. 33 may not be legal in some areas. He said that this would occur in a Ch. 3  duplex area.
I personaly dont know what that means in relation to CB radios but if Max or anybody can give me an idea about the current laws I would be greatful.

The more spectacular initiation events include a meridional line of convection that initiated around 3 UTC E of Kalgoorlie (WA), and an immense cluster of convection circulating around (a convectively induced) low at the QLD/NT border. Yesterday's M-LAPS hinted at the surface reflection of such a low for 06 UTC. In more populated areas, S SA saw early orographically aided/forced convection, and W VIC put up a few big storms as well. W NSW suffered from anvil debris advecting off a line of storms that initiated in NE SA/ SW QLD around 02 UTC. I feel reminded of a recent discussion on Australia's topography not being conducive to generating an elevated mixed layer or cap, which could have suppressed some of the convection to allow .. better convection. Today rich PBL moisture is still in place over all of E and C AUS. The 23 Z surface winds seem to hint at a mesolow NW of Bourke, with a very subte trough axis running off ESE. Latest AVN maintains that trough around 06Z. Flow is still the issue today, with W VIC progged for better SW, and C QLD for better NW flow. Best flow in NSW should be in NE NSW later. Broad mid-level low dominates the Red Hot Centre with little flow to speak of. I believe convection in QLD will continue to shed anvil debris into NSW reducing insolation. Another dry slot is working its way into SW NSW. WV shows a mid/upper low moving towards TAS and possibly increasing lapse rates over W VIC /SE SA / SW NSW. Another region of interest is near the mesolow if some sunlight makes it through, with better flow to the NE. In the last half an hour lots of convection has developed especially around the hills and the northern suburbs in Adelaide. Forecast suggests that a t'storm is possible about the hills which could be good but i hate it when they say a possible thundery shower cheifly about the hills etc because that should really indicate that more then one is expected to develop and they don't just say it. The best areas for t'storm development today seem to be more to the north east and east of Adelaide and the south east. There is one patch of high cloud to the west from where I am now which suggests some small upper level interfearance, this could make things interesting, once again it would be lucky if Adelaide saw some action today but it is very possible. I expect an STA for some part of SA this arvo. Well as everyone would know from Tv broadcast on Channel 10 that Bathurst is also copping a downpour since last Sunday.. I took a look at Macquarie River today, if this keeps up we will have a flood, like Great Western Hwy closed, eg. August 98. The low level bridge in town was just about under water this morning and the rain has kept up all day.. Im looking at Mt Panorama today and there is slight mist and fog and steady rain still.. FAI 1000 race tomorrow will be very interesting indeed.. I have been listening to drivers talking to pit managers about rain, and I can say, they are not happy. Well we will see what happens tomorrow and how the river is rising.. Bom stated that the river had peaked at 3.2 meters this morning and was started to subside, I really doubt that now with all this rain all day.. Hi all

5:50pm update on Anthony's crew

They're at Cunnamulla in S Qld, watching an awesome storm(check lightning tracker if you want to see what I'm talking about!)...they have reported 25 knot gusts from this line, with a "beautiful looking gust front" spreading out ahead of the system. Macca and Anthony estimated the updraft heights at around 40,000 ft, with this particular line oriented N-S...embedded within the main NW-SE line across eastern Australia. They reported more cells developing ahead of the line, and they are now going to try and go after these, either heading N to Charleville or east. Last I heard they were lost in Cunnamulla looking for the main road out of town! Looks like they are in for an awesome lightning show tonight...

Further updates to come as I receive them

Both say that it looked like it was on the ground. I know from visuals of this/these storms that it was putting on a good show lightning wise and was producing some heavy rain. I was near Wahgunyah not long after and couldn't see anything. Brother in law just rang to say he was close by. Hume highway/freeway is on the East side of the warby ranges and it was on the west side so touchdown can't be confirmed. He said rainfall was extremely heavy.
