HIGH SEAS WEATHER WARNING FOR METAREA 10 ISSUED BY THE AUSTRALIAN BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE BRISBANE AT 1616UTC 24 DECEMBER 2010 GALE WARNING FOR NORTH EASTERN AREA SITUATION At 1500 UTC Tropical Cyclone Tasha was centred within 20 nautical miles of latitude sixteen decimal six south (16.6S) longitude one hundred and forty six decimal six east (146.6E) Recent movement : west southwest at 17 knots Maximum winds : 35 knots Central pressure: 996 hPa AREA AFFECTED Within 20 nautical miles in NE quadrant and within 40 nautical miles in SE quadrant and within 40 nautical miles in SW quadrant and within 20 nautical miles in NW quadrant. FORECAST Maximum winds to 35 knots near the centre increasing to 40 knots by 1900UTC 24 December. Winds forecast to weaken below 34 knots by 2200UTC 24 December. Forecast positions At 0300 UTC 25 December: Within 50 nautical miles of 17.9 south 144.5 east over land Central pressure 998 hPa. Winds to 30 knots near centre.
